Multimedia Art Classes

Does your child enjoy adding a little of this and a little of that? Straying from the instructions?
Multi-media is an excellent art form for nurturing this type of creativity. Projects will begin with some basic instruction to build upon using varied supplies and imagination! This varied and flexible art form provides children the opportunity to really immerse in their creativity with minimal focus on technical skills. Some examples include blended alcohol and ink art, paint pouring with image overlay, sponge paint back drops with whimsical creatures, 3-D collages, found objects sculpture building, Pastel and wax art, dried flowers with water colors and so much more.
Art & Play Classes

These often involve making a big mess! Gumboots Art Studio's specialty! Slime, paint pouring, fluffy paint, splatter painting, marble art, GF playdough smash, paint filled balloons and paint filled guns are some of the things offered in Art & Play classes offered.
Watch for special pop up classes of concrete mosaics, paper making and more.

Art & Science Classes

I love teaching these classes the most! Designed to engage children's creativity and inquisitive natures, Art & Science classes utilizes art projects to introduce scientific concepts. Some examples of these classes are magnetics used in slime, Painting alongside farm animals and learning about mammalian biology, states of matter concepts in preparing play doughs , flower dissections with multimedia art, tensile strength with basket weaving or sculptural engineering concepts for stability and mathematics ratios.
Art & Skills Classes

Designed for slightly older students, these classes focus on obtained skills being practiced in class. Students are taught about different tools, supplies, lighting and techniques as well as using perspective to their advantage when sketching or painting a subject. Specific classes may introduce vanishing points and scale concepts especially when drawing landscapes or buildings. As with any skill, they take time and practice to master. Art & Skills classes often focus on a specific practice such as sketching, portraiture, painting landscapes, painting animals or guided acrylic paintings. NEW: Check out our Theatre Props classes geared towards teens interested in visual art of theatre: minimum age 12+
Wood Craft Classes

In these classes students practice reading measuring tapes in inches, using hand planers, sanding blocks, battery powered drills, hammers and fasteners. Students learn a bit about building with wood and basic tools used in wood works. All wood is pre-cut in our shop. Students will not be handling any saws or electric sanders in this class. Some examples of projects may include a wooden bench, crate, bird house, Mason bee house, small table or hat rack. Students will also get to paint and decorate their creation.
Clay Classes

An intro to working with earthen pottery clays. Depending on the project planned, students are taught a variety of hand building techniques for artisan pottery and mini sculptures. Clays must be dried and fired in a kiln which means projects will need to be retrieved at a later date.
